Once again Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire will host the iconic Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, one of the UK’s most popular golf competitions. 2017 sees the 84th edition of the event and the 20th anniversary of it being played at Nailcote, Hall. The competition brings together professionals, amateurs and celebrities over the course of four days for a fantastic celebration of golf. The event opens with the celebrity-amateur golf day (8 August 2017), before two professional-amateur golf days (9 and 10 August) and finally, the celebrity-amateur grand finale golf day (11 August).
The event is unique in the fact that it allows both males and females to compete alongside and against one another on one of the only mixed gender competitions not just in golf but in sport as a whole. There is also plenty for spectators to enjoy during the week with an inflatable golf simulator, chipping and putting challenges for kids to get involved with.

Despite the party atmosphere that surrounds the tournament, there is still a competitive edge to the week with professional golfers from around the country battling it out to be crowned the winner. Last year’s champion Mark Mouland will be hoping to defend his title.

The event always attracts some of the biggest celebrity names from the worlds of sport and entertainment. Some of the celebs on show this year include: Harry Potter actors James and Oliver Phelps who played Fred and George Weasley in the franchise, Westlife star Brian McFadden and BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker.
3. Tented Village
As well as the golf on show The Tented Village provides the social hub for the Championship. With a wide variety of stalls on offer including food and drink, clothing and golfing equipment the village also is used for VIP Q&A sessions with players.
4. Nailcote Hall
Tucked away in idyllic Warwickshire countryside, Nailcote Hall is home to the fantastic Cromwell Course which offers a real test to players of all abilities. The elegant hotel overlooking the course means that it really is one of the best golfing venues in the country.
5. Sports stars
The event has always been renowned for being able to attract some of the most famous faces from the sporting world. This year is no different and making appearances will be: Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall MBE, 1992 Formula 1 winner Nigel Mansell CBE and Premier League greats Robbie Fowler and Andrew Cole.

8. Tony Jacklin CBE
One of the most successful British players, former Ryder Cup captain Tony Jacklin CBE is the event’s host. The 1969 Open winner, is one of British golf’s most likeable personalities and so is the perfect person to get proceedings underway next month.

The Par 3 format used at the tournament encourages a golfer’s short game. It helps to develop skills and practice new techniques equalling in more excitement for the spectators.
10. Future stars
The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship also offers a platform for rising stars to show what they can do. With local qualifiers taking place, you could be witnessing the next big thing in British golf for the first time.
